Easter Lily Dangers and Your Cats

It's time for Easter which is a special holiday celebrated by many beyond the egg hunts and baskets, you might have an Easter lily in your home because they are beautiful and give off an incredible aroma. However, I have found that people are not aware of the unfortunate danger that they pose to your indoor cats. As a pet sitter, I have been into homes with the lilies out for enjoyment of unsuspecting clients and as a precaution I have to the initiative and safely stored them in a safe place out of reach from the cats. Pet Loss – A Year Later

One year ago today, November 14th, was one of the most painful days of my life. I had to say goodbye to my Simon kitty love and help him to Heaven. You can read more about that here. Though it's been a year, some days it still feels like it was yesterday. The memories of that day are burned in my brain and my heart forever. Some days the tears will still bubble up out of nowhere and flow when I think of him. What this tells me about my personal experience of the loss of my pet/my fur baby: I loved him so very deeply. There absolutely still are days when I would give anything to have him back. There are days when I question the decision of was it the right time. Valentine Dangers – Keeping Your Cat Safe

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your beloved pets! It's a day we all cherish as it reminds us of keeping LOVE in our life which includes the unconditional love of the pets we love so dearly. Don’t Wait To Think About Euthanasia and Cremation

I know NO pet parent wants to think about the day when their beloved fur baby will no longer be with them.I certainly didn't even though we all know it is an unavoidable and inevitable fact of life. But let me tell you that I believe it can take away some of the heavy burdens you will one day face at an extremely sensitive time when you need to be able to deal with your grief and focus on your pet's final moments. Five Tips To Keep Your Cat Happy At Thanksgiving

Ready or not, the holidays are here! Many families with be staying at home for Thanksgiving hosting dinners. If this will be you and you are inviting guests over, we offer five tips to keep your cat happy (and safe!) at Thanksgiving. 1. Prepare your guests with some ground rules. It's that moment in time you never want to happen. But, inevitably, it does. That time came for me about a week ago for my beloved furbaby, Simon. Tips on Coping With Pet Loss Grief

As you may know, I recently experienced the loss of my beloved kitty, Simon (Read HERE). It hit me pretty hard as he was such a light in my life and it happened in a short period of time. I did not have a lot of time between the initial shock and the depression "stages" of grief, so it was quite an emotional train wreck. I also felt a little alone and lost in my journey, so I thought by sharing with you some of the things I learned in my own journey of the loss of Simon it would hopefully be helpful to others. How To Always Get Your Lost Pet Home Safely

As a pet lover when I see a pet wandering the neighborhood streets, I can never just keep driving. Sometimes I try to approach the lost pet and they run away, but at least I know I tried. Although we offer pet sitting services just for cats, I still love and want the best for all animals. Yesterday while driving home from a pet sitting visit in my Smyrna neighborhood, I saw a dog loose in the street with no pet guardian in sight. I stopped to assess the situation. The dog was very friendly although dirty and very thin. She had a collar but no ID tag. No tag, no one to call! I did not want to just let her run loose in the street so I did the next logical thing and took her to a nearby veterinarian office to see if the dog was microchipped. I am happy to report that the dog was microchipped and the owner was located.
