Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail…
The Easter Bunny loves cats as much as we do here at Kitty Love Pet Sitting!
That’s why he wanted to join us in letting you know some Easter related dangers for cats to avoid that are common household items amongst Easter celebrations…
1. Chocolate – Although cats typically don’t seek it out, some can be curious with just about anything, so it’s best to just have the chocolate stored safely away.
Chocolate can be dangerous and cause medical complications, some of which can be serious. Super yummy for us, NOT at all good for our feline fur babies.
You can read more about chocolate toxicity here.
2. Fake / Artificial Easter “Grass” – Easter baskets are usually filled with this festive and colorful item. It is delightful for us to look at it so your kitty might be inclined to want to play with it or even attempt to eat it (they do, after all, love to eat actual grass), so please do NOT leave this “grass” anywhere for kitty to find.
It is not digestible and can lead to surgery to remove from the intestines or possibly fatal if left untreated.
3. Lilies – Easter lilies are very popular as gifts this holiday and are readily available at florist shops. Beautiful and aromatic for us, yet extremely dangerous and possibly lethal for your cat.
Being informed and letting others know about this is vitally important. Personally, I did not always know this about lilies (and other flowers) myself which is why I am now passionate about spreading awareness.
See our other blog post about lily danger here.
And read more about lily poisoning here.
We hope that you, your family, and kitty fur kids can avoid these Easter dangers for your cats and have a safe and delightful Easter holiday!
Love and Purrs,
Amy
